TENNESSEE FUND MODERNIZATION

Tennessee Athletics has finalized plans to implement a more simplified and modernized per-seat annual giving model as well as pricing structures for Football, Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Baseball and Softball beginning with the 2022 athletic seasons.

The impending changes stem from several months of thoughtful analysis and consideration of fan feedback, including requests to create a more equitable and affordable pricing model throughout. Similar fan input led to the development of multiple new and exciting fan experience amenities/renovations set to debut next season at Neyland Stadium.

Many season-ticket holders will experience a price reduction. Access to season tickets also will be expanded to more of the Tennessee fanbase, as some areas within venues will not require an annual contribution. These designated areas create a pathway for a new generation of Tennessee fans to experience the unmatched pageantry of gameday on Rocky Top.

2022 PER-SEAT GIVING MODELS

In keeping with efforts to modernize operations, cultivate a new generation of fans and resource Tennessee’s athletic programs at a championship level, the Tennessee Fund also is making adjustments to priority-seating benefits tied to football contributions.

Currently, contributions required to purchase Tennessee football tickets permit donors access to premium benefits at events for other UT teams, such as basketball, baseball and softball. In other words, a football-specific contribution has afforded “umbrella” privileges extending to multiple sports.

In order to expand access and opportunities at events for sports other than football to more fans, the aforementioned umbrella coverage will be discontinued beginning with the 2022 renewal period for each sport.

Coinciding with these changes are comprehensive repricing plans for Tennessee football and basketball, which result in contribution and ticket-price decreases across significant sections of those venues. Specific basketball repricing information will be finalized in the months to come, and the upcoming 2021-22 basketball season will not be impacted.

2022 NEYLAND RENOVATIONS

Multiple new premium areas are scheduled for construction as outlined during this summer’s launch of the My All Campaign. Sections impacted by new planned premium areas include the lower west (sections R-W, rows 1-22) and the upper north (sections YY7-YY9). Current season-ticket holders in these sections will have the right of first refusal for seats in this revamped space. There will be increases to the per-seat gift requirements coinciding with the enhanced amenities.

Fan experience upgrades accompanying this phase of renovations include two new videoboards on the north and south ends of the stadium, a lower-west premium club, enhanced chairback seating in multiple lower-west sections and a party deck social gathering space on the stadium’s upper north end.

Additionally, some seat locations in the lower east and south will be impacted by planned changes. Those areas are:

  • South Endzone:
    • Sections K-Q in Rows 63 and Higher
  • East Sideline:
    • Rows 51-64, seats 18-35, in Section D
    • Rows 51-64 in Section E
    • Rows 51-64 in Section F

Q & A

In an effort to achieve greatness in every one of our 20 sports, we must provide our student-athletes and coaches with the resources to compete at the highest levels academically and athletically. Implementing a per-seat giving model in the (5) sports listed above will assist in those efforts as we attempt to monetize the support around each of these sports.

As an example, if Donor “A” has two season tickets for Football and sits in Section “Q” that requires a $150 per-seat gift, we will ask for a $300 football priority gift in order to secure said seats. If this same donor has two season tickets for Men’s Basketball and sits in a section with a $125 per-seat gift, we will ask this donor for a $250 gift to secure those seats. Thus, Donor “A” would contribute $550 to the Tennessee Fund for his/her season tickets for Football and Men’s Basketball.

This model will be implemented starting with the 2022 Spring athletic seasons. Seat locations will not be impacted for the 2021 Football season or the 2021-22 Men’s and Women’s Basketball seasons.

Parking allocation and ranking will be determined by individual sport per-seat giving level. The amount you give for a specific sport will determine your “tier” for that sport’s parking allocation. Donors within each giving level will be ranked based on their Tennessee Fund member rank.

Yes, all season ticket holders will be asked to pay the corresponding per-seat contributions for each respective sport. Our goal is to be equitable in each section. All fans seated together in a particular section will be asked to pay the same, fair amount.

Starting with the 2022 Spring athletic seasons, current and retired faculty/staff members will be asked to pay 100 percent of the per-seat donation cost and 80 percent of the ticket cost in their respective sections. The UT Ticket Office will assist in relocating seats to non-donation sections, if requested.

Tennessee Fund members will continue to have one singular rank for their entire Tennessee Fund account, versus a rank for each individual sport.

Renewal information and parking benefit levels for the 2022-23 basketball season will be sent in Spring 2022

The evolution of our current season-ticket pricing and per-seat gift structure has priced out many of the longtime fans who helped build Tennessee into one of the nation’s most historic and successful college football programs. In many sections, our season ticket price is the highest in the SEC.

Under the new pricing model, approximately 50-percent of our current football season-ticket options will decrease in price. Many STH will end up paying less than or equal to their current tickets. This will allow many of our fans to upgrade their seats, upgrade their parking, or add seats for the same price they were originally paying.

Currently, there are fans in Neyland Stadium sitting side-by-side but paying different amounts. We want everyone seated in a particular section of the stadium to pay the same amount—a fair amount. With each season-ticket holder paying an equitable share, we will more effectively capitalize on the size of Neyland Stadium and the strength in numbers of our passionate fanbase. This will generate additional resources to be invested back into our programs for our student-athletes and coaches.

The new pricing model will take place for the 2022 Football season which is the next renewal period.

Football renewal information will be sent electronically on Nov 2nd. Paper copies will be sent on November 9th.

Yes, all season-ticket holders will be asked to pay an equitable amount. The corresponding per-seat contributions for each seat will be paid by each STH in that section.

The parking pass selection process for the 2022 football season will take place in May 2022.

Yes. All per-seat contributions to Tennessee Athletics count toward the My All Campaign. Those interested in making an “above and beyond” impact, are encouraged to consider making a gift directly to the campaign by visiting this link, exploring the Shareholders Society, or by calling the Tennessee Fund directly at 865-974-1218.

The My All Campaign is a $500 million comprehensive fundraising initiative aimed at bolstering Tennessee’s ability to provide a transformational student-athlete experience for current and future Vols and Lady Vols.

This campaign will positively impact each of Tennessee’s 20 varsity athletic programs by building and renovating new competition and training facilities. In addition, we plan to modernize the fan experience in certain seating areas within Neyland Stadium. This renovation is based on feedback from our valued donors and season-ticket holders.

  • Lower West side:
    • Sections R-W
    • Rows 1-22
  • Upper North Endzone:
    • Sections YY7-YY9
  • South Endzone:
    • Sections K-Q
    • Rows 63 and higher

The lower west sideline sections are some of the oldest seats in the stadium, and some of the seats date back to 1921. They have long needed amenity and comfort upgrades. In this upgrade, this entire section will be updated with chair-back seating enhancements. We will also build a modern field-level club featuring new restrooms, enhanced food and beverage options, climate control, televisions and a bar-seating experience. The new seatbacks and chairs will be wider and more modern, greatly enhancing the comfort for fans. Rows 1-22, sections S, T, U and V will have access to the new lower west premium area.

We are adding a videoboard to the north end of the stadium. Based on feedback from members of Vol Nation, this will positively improve the gameday and fan experience throughout all of Neyland Stadium, specifically for patrons seated in the south endzone. This renovation will create an “open air” concourse club area, featuring standing-room-only tickets. This new, modern party-deck allows fans to gather and socialize while watching the game in a standing-room-only setting. An expansive bar and TV setup will highlight this space.

Regarding the lower south, the “historic loge” boxes are being removed to widen that concourse. There will be eight feet of new space available to traverse this section. We are also installing chairbacks for an enhanced experience. This area will have more accessible seating to help serve all Vol fans. In order to enhance the experience for our season-ticket holders and the student body, we are relocating some season-ticket holders out of certain rows in sections D, E and F. These season-ticket holders have been seated behind the student section for a number of years. This keeps students from standing in front of our season-ticket holders, and the student section can expand through the entire sections in D, E and F on the east side (top to bottom).

  • East Sideline:
    • Rows 51-64, seats 18-35, in Section D
    • Rows 51-64 in Section E
    • Rows 51-64 in Section F

Current seat holders in sections S, T, U, V (Rows 1-22) will have the right of first refusal during our request process to stay in the new lower west premium area, before the general public. If a current seat holder in sections S, T, U, V (Rows 1-22) wishes to request additional seats in this area, this will be treated as a new purchase and availability will be predicated on Tennessee Fund donor rank. All seating locations will be predicated on Tennessee Fund donor rank.

Current Seat Holders in Sections R & W will also have the right of first refusal to stay in their respective sections during the allocation process. Seat holders in sections R & W will not have access to the lower west club area. If a current seat holder in sections R & W wishes to request additional seats in this area, this will be treated as a new purchase and availability will be predicated on Tennessee Fund donor rank. All seating locations will be predicated on Tennessee Fund donor rank.

Renovations to the lower west and upper north will begin immediately following the completion of the 2021 football season. While the upper north and the seating area of the lower west are expected to be completely finished by the start of the 2022 season, the new club area in the lower west will only be 75 percent complete. Additional amenities will be added after the 2022 season making it fully complete for the start of the 2023 season.

Your seat location for 2021 is not impacted. The Tennessee Fund and UT Ticket Office will proactively communicate with those ticket holders in areas that will be impacted by the planned renovations.
